My stroke is off. I can feel it and it is showing up in missed shots. Two weeks ago I started trying something different.I had hoped that my stroke and follow would become a more smoother motion. As a result it has become something a little more erratic. And once that happens it takes a lot of concentration to get back on the right track. Even if that was not 100%, it worked well with some minor flaws. I should have left well enough alone, but human nature being what it is we are not always satisfied with 98%.
I have a feeling the problem is in my stance, because the stance will determine, in many cases, how the cuestick is held and aimed. It does not take much of a wrong movement to hit the cueball a tip off one way or the other. Even a half tip can effect the result. Billiards and pool is a game of total concentration and can only be improved and maintained by practice, something I preach and believe in.The extent of my practice is apparent by the callouses I am getting on my fingers and I may have to start wearing a glove.
So, I will keep at it and at some point I may consult a higher power (not the one upstairs, the one in the billiard hall)to have a look at my overall movements and make some positive suggestions. I need to get on the right track before I start trying different shots.
Then there is the grip. but thats another story.
